Free card
What it means
Seeing the next card without putting in chips because everyone checked. Taking it suits you when betting doesn't pay; giving it to an opponent with a draw lets them improve without paying.
Example
You have a flush draw on the flop and your opponent checks: if you check too, you see the turn for free. With top pair on a board full of draws, though, checking gives your opponent a free card to complete.
