Medium-strength hand

What it means

A hand that beats part of your opponent's range but loses to their strong hands, like a middle pair or top pair with a weak kicker. It usually wants to reach showdown without inflating the pot: if it bets big, it mostly gets called by better hands.

Example

With on you have second pair: you beat bluffs and lower pairs, but no king. A bet of three times the pot only gets called by hands that beat you.

Also called: Mano media · Manos medias · Medium hand
