Bad beat

What it means

Losing a hand in which you were a big favorite when the chips went in, because of the cards that came afterwards. It is part of variance: the decision can be good even if the result is bad.

Example

You go all-in preflop with against (82% equity) and a king comes on the river: you lost the hand, but the decision was good.
