Sample

What it means

The set of hands or situations you have observed, your own or an opponent's. With a small sample, what you see can be far from the true frequency or winrate; as the sample grows, the range of compatible values shrinks.

Example

You saw an opponent bluff the river 1 time out of 1: with that sample, the 95% interval for their bluffing frequency runs from 2.5% to 100%. A single hand says almost nothing.
