Act in turn

What it means

A rule of etiquette and procedure: you only act when it's your turn. Acting out of turn gives away unfair information; depending on the room, that action may become binding if the action before you doesn't change.

Example

The CO hasn't acted yet and you, on the BTN, say "call". In many rooms, if the CO doesn't change the action (folds or just calls), your "call" stands; the exact consequences depend on house rules.

Also called: Out of turn · Fuera de turno
