Hero call

What it means

Calling a big river bet with a weak bluff catcher, one that only beats bluffs, because when you count your opponent's assumed range, the share of bluffs is higher than the equity the price asks for. It's not a hunch: it's a combo count that depends on your opponent's range and your blockers.

Example

With 9♥9♣ on K♠8♦3♦7♣2♠, the BTN overbets 41 bb into 27.5. The price asks for 37.44% and their assumed range has 22 bluffs out of 45 combos (48.89%): calling wins 12.53 bb.
