Small blind
What it means
A forced bet of half the big blind, posted by the player immediately to the left of the button (in heads-up, the button posts it).
Example
With 0.5/1 blinds, the small blind is 0.5 bb. If someone opens to 2.5 bb, it costs the SB 2 bb more to call.
