Checking range
What it means
The hands you check with on a street. If you only check weak hands, your opponent can bet with anything when you check and you have nothing to defend with. That's why, when you bet selectively, you keep some strong or medium hands in your checking range: they protect it.
Example
BTN against the BB on 7♥6♥5♣: the BTN bets big with overpairs, sets and strong draws, and checks with two high cards and no draw. If it also checks some overpair, the BB can't bet with anything every time the BTN checks.
Also called: checking range · rango de check · rango de pasar · rango de pasar protegido
