Initiative
What it means
The last player who raised on the previous street has it. They can keep betting and win the pot when the opponent missed; whoever only called or limped usually needs to hit to win.
Example
The CO raises preflop and the BB calls: on the flop the CO has the initiative and can bet even without hitting (c-bet).
