Dead money
What it means
Chips that are already in the pot and that nobody is going to defend with a hand. Before the flop they're the blinds (1.5 bb in 6-max): the opener wins them every time everyone folds, and that's why late positions open more hands.
Example
From the BTN you open to 2.5 bb to win 1.5 bb of dead money: the pure steal doesn't lose if the blinds fold 62.5% of the time.
