Fold equity

What it means

The extra value a bet or raise gets from the chance that your opponent folds. A pure bluff needs your opponent to fold at least bet / (pot + bet) of the time.

Example

A 1/2-pot bet (5 bb into 10 bb) needs 5/15 = 33% folds to make money on that alone; a pot-sized bet needs 50%.
