EV (Expected Value)

What it means

The average profit or loss of a decision if it were repeated many times. It's calculated by adding up each outcome times its probability. It's an average, not a promise for any single hand.

Example

You bluff 10 bb into a 10 bb pot. If your opponent folds 60% of the time: EV = 0.6 × 10 − 0.4 × 10 = +2 bb (not counting your equity when called).

Also called: Valor esperado · +EV · -EV
