Decision tree

What it means

All the options you have at a point in the hand (fold, check, call, bet with each size, raise) and what your opponent can respond to each one. You give each branch an EV with the same math and choose the one with the highest EV. The result depends on your opponent's range and how they respond: if those change, the tree changes.

Example

River of 25.5 bb with Q♦J♦ and no pair: checking is worth 3.48 bb (you beat 13.64% of the range), betting 8.5 bb is worth −0.77 bb (almost nobody folds) and betting 19 bb is worth 7.30 bb (59.09% fold). You choose to bet 19.
