SPR (Stack-to-Pot Ratio)

What it means

Stack-to-pot ratio: the effective stack divided by the pot at the start of the flop. With a low SPR it's easier to commit with top pair; with a high SPR you need stronger hands to play for your whole stack.

Example

3-bet pot: CO opens to 2.5, the BTN 3-bets to 8 and the CO calls. Pot = 8 + 8 + 0.5 + 1 = 17.5 bb; 92 bb left: SPR = 5.3. In a single-raised pot BTN vs. BB (5.5 bb, 97.5 bb behind), SPR = 17.7.

Also called: Stack to pot ratio
